Having the Capability of Violence is a Good Thing

I’m sure just about everyone has heard the saying, “violence isn’t the answer”. While this can be the case, and even might be the most prevalent case, I must argue that it isn’t always applicable. Violence is reason when words cannot be. This is proven by the countless battles fought throughout the ages of man. Anything that cannot be settled with words has always been reverted to violence by default.

Many times, the capability of violence has even averted violence entirely because the threat of being able to defend one's beliefs, actions, or one’s person is great enough to produce a question of the odds. A question of outcome. It simply averts their attention from attacking to safety. In some cases this is enough, but it isn’t always.

“The greatest victory is that which requires no battle.” “So in war, the way is to avoid what is strong, and strike at what is weak.”-Sun Tzu

We may not be talking about war, but all battles are based on the same principals. You do not see UFC fighters being attacked or robbed on the street just as you do not see gun stores being robbed. It is simply because people know there is a great chance of violence being returned to them. They strike what is weak instead of what is strong. They also didn’t have to read or even know who Sun Tzu was to realize this.

The key is to become strong, or capable of defending oneself very effectively in one way or another. To become a monster. Then you must learn how to control that…
